How Our Ice Cream is made - The Buckridge Way
Every tub of Buckridge ice cream is made here on the farm - from morning milking to the finished tub. Our ice cream is made in small batches, just yards from the milking parlour.
Here's how we do it:
Fresh from the cows
Every day starts with the morning milking. The milk we use in our ice cream is as fresh as it gets - collected straight from the parlour and poured into the pasteuriser just moments before production begins.
Blending the base
Inside the pasteuriser, our milk becomes the foundation of our ice cream. Dorset Double Cream is added for richness, British Sugar for sweetness, along with carefully selected ingredients to bring balance. During pasteurisation the mix is gently heated and cooled blending the ingredients into our smooth signature base. This step is essential - it guarantees the safety and consistency of our ice cream.
Flavoured by hand
Once the base is ready, the creativity begins. Every flavour is added by hand - ingredients such as chocolate flavour are stirred directly into the base before churning so they blend evenly throughout the mix. Other flavours like honeycomb, salted caramel and fruit ripples are folded through after to give contrast and texture. This way, no two spoonfuls are the same, and each tub carries it's own character.
Churned in small batches
The mix is churned slowly in small-batches - this is where the transformation happens! The churning process freezes the base while introducing just the right amount of air. Working in small batches and taking our time, we avoid excessive air introduction and create a dense, velvety ice cream. The result of this is luxuriously smooth, rich on the tongue, and full of flavour from the first scoop to the last.
Potted and Frozen
Once churning is complete, the fresh ice cream is immediately potted into tubs and placed into our blast freezer - this rapid freezing process locks in texture, flavour and freshness at their very best. Because everything is done on farm, from the milking parlour to the finished product, we can guarantee every tub of Buckridge ice cream is as fresh, consistent and carefully made as the last.
